🎤 Essential K-Pop Positions Explained

In the K-Pop industry, a group is like a puzzle where every member holds a specific role. Here are the most common positions:

  • The Center: The face of the group. Usually placed in the middle during dance breaks and album covers. (e.g., Jungkook from BTS, Wonyoung from IVE)
  • Main Vocalist: The backbone of the song. They take the hardest high notes and choruses.
  • Main Dancer: They lead the complex choreography and often get solo dance breaks.
  • The Maknae: The youngest member of the group, highly adored (or feared) by the older members!

💡 K-Pop TMI: Did You Know?

1. The "Ending Fairy" (엔딩요정)
At the end of a music show performance, the camera zooms in on one member who has to stare intensely (while panting heavily playfully) into the lens. It's a huge honor!

2. The 7-Year Curse
Most K-Pop contracts last for exactly 7 years. Many groups face the "7-Year Curse" where they either disband or renew their contracts based on their success.
